GeoDirectory vs Directorist: the main difference
GeoDirectory is a free WordPress plugin that adds paid listings through its Pricing Manager add-on, at $49 a year for one site, as read on October 23, 2026. Directorist is a free WordPress plugin whose paid-listing extensions come inside one license, at $129 a year for one site at list price, or $379 lifetime.
Brilliant Directories is the third option for an owner who would rather not run WordPress: Essentials runs $40 a month, billed monthly, on its account pricing page, with hosting included.

Try Brilliant Directories →Yearly and lifetime prices for paid listings
- GeoDirectory Pricing Manager: $49 a year for one site, $69 for two to five sites or $99 for unlimited sites, billed yearly. GeoDirectory's all-products membership is $139 a year for one website or $229 for unlimited websites.
- Directorist: $129 a year for one site (Starter), $169 for five sites (Pro) or $219 for unlimited sites (Agency) at list price. Lifetime is $379 for one site, $579 for five sites or $749 for 20 sites.
Directorist's pricing page was running a promotion on October 23, 2026, so these are its list prices. Brilliant Directories Essentials is billed monthly or yearly, so set it beside a plugin license only on the same basis.
Taking payments: GetPaid, WooCommerce or extensions
GeoDirectory's Pricing Manager needs a cart. Its documentation calls GetPaid a free plugin that comes with PayPal, bank transfer and a few other gateways, and its Pricing Manager page says GetPaid handles subscription payments out of the box. WooCommerce does not support recurring payments on its own and needs the paid WooCommerce Subscriptions plugin. A package carries a price and a lifetime, and can recur or include a trial.
Directorist lists pricing plans and paid listings among its premium extensions, and every membership includes them. Its monetization pages show 2021 update dates, so a step may differ in today's plugin. They say featured listings can be charged for, the free gateway is bank transfer, an offline gateway whose order status you update by hand, and Stripe is a paid extension.
Support, updates and refunds
Both plugins keep working after a license ends but stop getting support and updates, per each vendor's page. GeoDirectory lists a 30-day refund window on a first purchase only, not on renewals or lifetime deals. Directorist lists a 14-day refund window. Pick GeoDirectory when paid listings on one site are the whole job and a single add-on covers it. Pick Directorist when you want every extension in one license, or a lifetime option.
When a hosted builder such as Brilliant Directories fits better
Choose Brilliant Directories if you want hosting, SSL, backups and payments in one account. It offers a 7-day free trial with no credit card from its trial page, and the vendor says $0 platform fees; your payment processor's fees still apply. The code stays on the vendor's servers, so it is a poor fit if you must host code yourself. The Brilliant Directories vs WordPress page prices that trade.
Business Directory Plugin is a third WordPress route: its free plugin adds an extra fee on each Stripe transaction on top of Stripe's own fees, and its pricing table lists Stripe from the Pro license. For more routes, see GeoDirectory alternatives and Directorist alternatives.
